Phil Thorne has written a warts-and-all entertaining log with photos of his 2021 sailing year aboard Beguine, his and Angela’s Frances 26. It’s a great read, and begins at the beginning in March, which “started badly” after he fitted a new battery and decided to turn the engine over….

Proving you don’t have to have a huge boat to travel far and wide are Bob and Kim Todd who sail “Escape” a 20’ BayRaider Expedition made by Swallow Yachts.
Some HCC members have sailed round Britain as a once-in-a-lifetime adventure, but in 2023 Simon Harding completed his third-time around in his 51’ gaff yawl Cygnet of London. Partner Sharon, too, went much of the way. During an event-full trip in stunning scenery, they saw bottlenosed and common dolphins, a Risso’s dolphin and a pod of killer whales.
Cygnet is a gaff rigged yawl, built in 1906 by the Burgoine Brothers of Kingston on Thames to a design by her first owner G. Chalmers. At some time she was converted to Bermudan rig, and converted back to gaff yawl rig in 2006.
